Cnn-IBN: Misreading the numbers

If there is anything that CNN-IBN needs is a crash course in English. Perhaps it should disband it’s rag tag motley group of copy desk editors who seem to be good for nothing.

Taking a cue from activism, CNN-IBN decided to file a story about a hapless farmer ploughing his fields. It suddenly seems to have become fashionable to highlight the plight of farmers ever since suicides came in the mainstream media. The wooly eyed news channels never tire of complaining about the celebrities; when it comes to genuine reporting, their lack of class and training clearly comes in focus.

This story is truly heart rendering but what got my goose was the claim that it got a “massive public response“. The last time I checked, there were just 16 comments in all. What is the public response that they are claiming that it is? Is the response to the story by people donating in sums of money? Or the response via SMS? Or the number of comments posted on the web site? Or someone actually phoned up CNN-IBN “HQ” in order to respond to the story and their phones lines were jammed?

It’s painful to see such a website going down the drain. I really hope that they tighten up the standards and report sensibly.

Here is the screen shot of the “total comments”:

it is not only cnn-ibn who are trying to exaggerate their position but whole of media channels are honking their own horn. At least they r covering serious reports others r spending days and days together in analysing pitfalls of Pitfalls(pince story) or the love story of one mad female madly in love with a ex-co-passenger.
people r dying with hunger and diseases ….media is waiting for some sensational(read gory ) story
