[...] There is lots of news going on about news media in India. A whole bunch of new channels have sprouted in a very short period of time, and the journalistic world is all upbeat about the variety and richness in content that is expected by this increase in the number of channels. Many blogs have also commented on this topic, like here and here. I remember vaguely when Star News started in the mid-90s with Prannoy Roy’s NDTV providing the content. This started the change in the way people got news, very different from the way DD news used to handle it. The content was more opinionated and the journalists were also more “involved”. From the famous “News-Readers” of the DD era like Minu Singh and Usha Albuquerque we grew up to “News-Presenters” like Rajdeep Sardesai and Barkha Dutt. [...]

I had rather see them stop talking about cricket at all. Everyone in India has an opinion. We don't even need experts to tell us about cricket. Coz, we are not even going to agree with anyone else's opinion...

TV Sports channels are the place where one can kind hosts of kinky people trying to put across their stupid opinions and having cheeks to expect viewers to appreciate and buy the loads of crap thats been dished out .TV channels, are per their TRPs , hv enrolled in experts,, The Bigger channel , Bigger the Fool.. Could anyone buy Krishnamachari Srikkant babbling about sensible batting , Sense and Srikkant never gelled during his playing days. Navjot Sidhu ,my fellow Sikh, has broken all the boundaries of senseless talks. He fits in perfect in the Laughter challenge(as a clown) but not in the cricketing expert role.Channels are just trying to find out sponsors and fit in the prime slots. Channels like NDTV and CNN are more professional then the other toads we have in the pond. They should let the better sense prevail and enroll real experts of the game and have Thinking heads do the talk rather then these yapper
