The Times of India: User Opinion

Apparently, I had a fight with a friend when I accidentally revealed my feelings about the Times of India newspaper. I think it is one of the crappiest newspaper around and most people buy it just because of its sections like classifieds, matrimonial, property related stuff and perhaps third page crowd related news. The bad thing was that the person I told this to had just gotten a job in the newspaper

Now, I just want to hear user opinion on the quality of ‘actual news’ material in the TOI. My personal preference goes to Indian Express. No polls, just frank opinion. Even one line statements would help.

news-wise, TOI is not much into it.
What I do like in TOI though, is its extras (metro, comic-strip, page3, center-page, views, spiritual, dubyaman….)

IndianExpress/TheHindu - these are papers high on news.
But personally, I dont read them much since that gets boring.

Hindu tops my list and yes second is Indian express.
As far as TOI and HT are concerned, we all know how busy they are in several rounds of vicious fight by undercutting each other’s worth.Their object solely based on making more money, more profits

I thibk times of india and their group are worth their weight in shit, their website indiatimes.com and times of india newspaper itself are just selling dirt, They are willing to create the society into a worst form by spreading sex, ugliness, cheapness, vulgarity and meanness.

Indiatimes.com shows you inviting girls pics and when you click it shows you need to register, this way they are earning their users, Their newspaper is samecheap, they show seminude girls and try to make a nonsense by spreading nudity to homewide, Once i read an article in indiatimes.com, they were giving a tutorial to girls, how to make your nude mms yourself, how sick is the owner of benett group, he must die, i guess he is a jain, jainism is about ahimsa and spirituality, he is a blot on jainism and india, i hate all these group people and how ugly their minds are, they will destroy my culture, they are weak, whatever they will earn from these acts will go in their bllod and come as cancer in all their generations and they will have to pay to destroy the indian culture, which is a jewel in universe’s crown. they are bastards and true indians will never forgive them.

Umm.. We get The Hindu at school. It sucks. It has spelling mistakes. That is one thing I can’t stand. At least TOI is OK on language.

TOI is also referred by some as daily porn mag. in some coll. and schools!

If TOI doesn’t have spelling mistakes I don’t know what has. It is full of shoddy work on spellings.

    Good things about TOI -

    1) Appealing, graphical and concise presentation of salient points of the main news on the front page. You get the facts in less time and effort. That’s good for busy people or lazy people.

    2) The girls/women in Delhi Times.

    Bad things about TOI -

    1) It’s more than 50 % a tabloid than a national newspaper.

    2) Its spelling mistakes and wanting to look cool by using short forms instead of formal language. When I was in school we used to be told to read TOI to improve our English. Now I would be ashamed to recommend TOI to any school student!

TOI i like for the edit page and of course the women.

PPl who think the TOI is porn need to take a look at the page 3 of The Sun tabloid :D

As far as accuracy goes, its not that great, the edit page is what either makes or breaks a paper, they have usually decent leader articles etc.

The hindu, is what ppl say is good for news, but their dense writing style is in serious need of an overhaul, their journalists need to be forced to see how the west writes. The emphasis should be on clear effective communication but the Hindu writes like they were taught english in the 50s. It gives me a headache after some time. There’s ways to introduce difficult subjects, try something like the NYT or the WSJ and you come away having learnt something rather than having to dig around just to understand the damn article.
