Follow up on NDTV

One of the few people who made sense on the channel was Arnab Goswami. He left to join Times. It would hard to believe that Times management would give him enough leverage to chalk out his own ideas and get his ethics in reporting. Times sucks for that matter. At best, Arnab may have been lured by the pay package.
On NDTV Sports, Sonali Chander rocks! Apart from her good looks, she has that “WoW factor. One of the best sports presenter, Sonali has reached several milestones of her own. Even though, I strongly disapprove her of getting with Sidhu who at best remains a rabble rouser and a camera hog. Nothing more, nothing less, Sonali radiates the look of a no nonsense news anchor who knows what her job is.
This is the best part of NDTV; it has seperate news anchors for various news segments.
Nidhi Razdan, who has several fan sites devoted to her, is indeed photogenic; but the initial euphorai about her soon evaporated when it was rumoured that her father got her the job instead of her merits. I personally feel that she is at sea when she is trying to interview; otherwise her news reading is as if she is reading an obituary.
One more “upcoming” news reader is Sunetra Chaudary. With her brilliant smile, she would have been inducted sooner or later; however, I have no idea as to what gave her the idea to start cooing in front of the cameras. News is a serious business but surely, it can’t be taken as lightly as she appears to. While it would be assinine to expect to rattle off like Jyotsana Mohan, still she has a lot of ground to cover.
Jyotsana Mohan and Natasha Jog are almost like sisters in arms; they seem to be in such a tearing hurry which surely irritates to no extent. While Natasha seems to have understood the need to pause and take deep breaths, Jyotsana may soon need to take English diction classes.
Finally, it’s all a matter of personal perception. There are other worthy mentions but it is eluding my brains now.
How would I rate NDTV after all this? They have the elements in place; the other news channels might want to learn something from them. However, they remain firmly rooted in New Delhi; much of the news coverage is devoted to the events happening in and around Lutyen’s Delhi. While, at times they do get news from other parts of the nation; clearly, this isn’t enough.

Sonali Chander rocks??? ummm, dont know if we watch the same show :( i find her voice quite irritating… AS far as the look department is concerned, even Rabri Devi would look good if her hair is iron and makeup neatly done. By the way, do you like Sonali better before or after putting on all that extra weight?
The best looking person at NDTV in my opinion is Sunetra Chaudary. with her sultry looks and pouty lips she can give many models a run for their money. she is the only one with half pakage at NDTV.

as for my favorite, it gotta be maria bartiromo on MSNBC. and their was this weather girl on NDTV who in the later stages started hosting viewer letter reading show. she was hot.
Shub, The weather girl is call Anuradha or something. I remember her coz i used to wonder if she ever had bad hair days…..Not sure if she is all that hot ..but yeah she was cool ;)

This post was written in semi unconciousness! Seriously. At about 4 am when BSNL forced me to wake up to download Linux packages.
Anyway, I d agree with Nina about Sunetra’s pouty lips and her dusky beauty. However, I d still hold that she isn’t as good as she is made out to be; kind of horsy but not graceful.
Sonali even after the weight, isn’t biased. Frankly, it doesn’t matter. Though you’d have to know when she speaks minus the script. I am taking a wild guess that she’s interested in cricket. I have heard her reporting from Pakistan about Indo pak series; it was good to hear her incisive comments. She’s nice and plus it’s my personal opinion though.I don’t know about Rabri Devi!!

most of the ppl at ndtv were recruited after Prannoy went thru their parents’ CV. Its another matter that Vikram, Barkha, Rajdeep, turned out to be good journalists.

Next time, I am going to watch NDTV with some trepidation…Would for that matter, Prannoy roy like my Dad’s CV to hire me??

hey d only person who rocks on ndtv is undoubtedly prannoy roy. the head honcho with his pepper and chalk beard is the only eye toning ndtv can offer. he may not cme dat often but thats a diifrnt story altogether. so hip hip prannoy
What about Sonia Singh (nee Varma)? She has given up on the stiff upper lip look and started smiling ocassionally while reading the news.

Chayan, I have no idea as to your affiliation to NDTV or perhaps to Nidhi Razdan.
To me, PoK is an occupied territory and I dont bother to read what the Indian media reports about it. It sucks mostly.
As for the award, I dont care; I still have to hear about anything “sensible” from the chick. If the award presenters are as demented as the ones recieving them; I dont care either.
Calling this as “biased”, has no relevance here.
Indian media sucks majorly; they are a bunch of nincompoops and utter idiots as I would venture as much as to say as is allowed on a publicly discussed forum. If you feel that this is wrong; well Indian media is right for u in that case.
Ndtv has brushed up recently the senior reporters have an air and style about them .This channel has its difference and maintains its own way of resorting .

BTW, someone in another blog described her as a narcissist…. me too heard if it was not for that pti dad of hers she wud have been a nobody at ndtv…

jyotsana was my classmate in southdelhi polyte. she has turned in to a swan!!!!!u must believe me .@ dad’s c.v it is true here also.Her dad is a big gun .she was wild with nosering and a shocking atitude towards establishment.

A”professional” review here means, for your INFORMATION and UNDERSTANDING, is the way the news anchor presents herself in front of the camera. Most of it is the tele prompter and they just have to read news. There isn’t much intelligence involved in that.
Remember the time when Arnab left NDTV and Razdan stepped in to fill in the slot? Gawd. That was the horrific time on 8 in the evening news. They scrapped the whole thing and now Brakha is trying to make amends. I stopped watching NDTV then. At most, I watch it only during afternoon to catch up with the main headlines.
Whether or not NDTV was the harninger, I know not. On what basis you say this? As for your statement for deserving “Shammin Narang” and “Sultana”, well, we know what we have and what we deserve….
I wrote whatever I thought was appropriate and why should I be grateful to them? Specially when they are known to report cetain segments in the pits.
Still, we welcome you here. It’s good to have varied opinion, even if you dont agree to whatever it being written. It shouldnot be taken as a personal slander but mostly as criticism and that there is room for improvement.

yuh sonali rocks but only in looks deptt. she is @ rock bottom when it comes to a sport knowledge. but boy does she flirt with cricketers! have heard that she’s illmannered too.
I have been watching cricket controversies since quite a long time and let me tell you that “I have never got bored even a single time.” I enjoy wathcing Sonali and “Sherry”(not sure about the spelling) discuss various aspects of the leather and wood game (cricket) with the special guests which spices up the discussion and arguments. I personally think that Sonali is doing a great job as an anchor from an audience’s point of view and it is very obvious that she is completely focussed on and enjoying her job and not doing it just for the sake of doing it. “Cricket Controversies” is a good entertaining program.
NDTV is a good channel with “no nonsense” programs.
Why is it that am finding it absolutely impossible to dislike Nidhi or rather Nidhoo,as I address her, to myself ofcourse?Damn she looks like an angel and am very jealous of her husband.Well, thats life. I would always be her well wisher.She’s also stunning with her job.
this isabout Barkha ! well blasphemous it might be, but lets accept she has a long way to go before she can be a Katie Curic or a Christian Amanpour or even a Paula Zahn of our NDTV Channel ! If only she would gesticulate less and just speak instead of making her hands do the talking(?) , she would , may be get there one day ! But I like her all the same, the best we have of an othetrwise mediocre lot !S.
iam the great fan of NDTV group. in particular, the prannoy roy, and barkha dutt, and the humerous anchoring of sonali chander. it is really marvellous team.

NDTV being one of the prominent players I do appreciate their effort but at the same time feel there is scope for indegenous innovativeness required . Copying West blindly doesn’t work always :).
Just a few points to the effect …
Coverage : Sometimes dated and repitative clips for diffrent News Post. Seems sometime they don’t have enough news …?
Anchors : Room for professionalim required . Shouting , frowing doesn’t work.
Braodcast : Scope for improvemnet as its often Noisy and loud.
Polling : Dangerous has potential to give out wrong signals , makes no sense values without any figures.
Management : Find it strange when anchors broacast like “from our Managing Editor …..” as opposed to “from our correspondant ……” . Did anybody notice that?
