Don’t get me wrong, I do watch these functions and enjoy them, sometimes. But  when the differences in results aren’t there and there are the same performances by the same stars and same anchors-Karan Johar’s new outlet to bore everyone, sometimes-I can’t help wondering what’s different abt these functions nowadays?

What do ya think? Or is it me? Do spill your comments on this trivial issue!

Award functions are like PR parties. Everyone and anyone now has it to award awards to the films they like.

Award functions on different channels are useless. By the end everyone who’s been nominated gets an award on atleast one of the channels. So no way to know who’s the real winner.

There should be a single function like the Oscars, but with the spread of media and importance of TRPs, I don’t think any channel will agree to it. There was a time when Bollywood also had a single award ceremony (was it the Filmare?). Now many replicas…

Exactly! The Filmfare was a pioneering awards function. However, with too many award functions these days, there’s hardly a clear sense of judgement on the winners.
And yeah, they are like PR events, all the newbies and oldies come there to get media attention to either introduce themselves or relaunch themselves, or worse, some come in hope of getting some attention, because they havent had any!

“It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”

This song won the oscar for best original song at the recently held Oscars!

    Times are indeed changing. :)

Thats the point fontzer, if everyone is a winner (good for them, but), where is the judgement, the objectivity?
Aren’t award functions meant to highlight and celebrate the best of the year and not placate everyone who is or seems to be ‘Anyone’? :)
I take ur point too Upinder- well said!
