This is in direct contrast to what has been happening before. After a disastrous story on bird flu where they were focussing on chicken biryani and the likes, yesterday, I was stunned at the level they have improved their reporting all of a sudden.

This blog isn’t always about bashing and showing the media a middle finger. I would definitely want to highlight the positives too.

The show in question was hosted by Uma Sudhir, a correspondent from Hyderabad. She had raised a very pertinent question about Monsanto and it’s terminator gene. Plus, compared the state of agriculture in US and India.

I wouldn’t go in details here as they are out of scope. However, it is a clear reflection that NDTV can get it’s act together. Top notch stuff and full marks to Uma for highlighting such a burning topic. We NEED such kind of stories instead of reporters trying to mouth inanities and bullshitting us all through. While the afternoon segment in NDTV is still way off the mark but I am glad to see Jyotsana Mohan and Natasha Jog away. I don’t miss them and clearly they are much better off behind the cameras than in front of it.

Keep up this kind of a reporting style and I would start watching it all over again. And perhaps stop panning it.

There is another write up on War for news which sums up more about NDTV.

It says:

In the last two weeks, NDTV has tightened up in a number of other ways, most of them visibly effective. To paraphrase one of our commenters, NDTV, which runs a mileu of babalog was severely threatened by CNN-IBN, which had genuine journalists — a laughable idea at best.

Further,

The beauty of NDTV’s transformation is that its all instantly visible. We don’t know how this change happened, but it has and it’s for the best. Consider the ways just the three of us noticed in the last week. Not all of them amount to much, but here’s a channel looking far younger, more robust and ever more authoritative. This is the beast awakened.

The guys behind this blog are invisible and no one knows who is running the show. But, they have insider scoops on three news channels- Times Now, CNN-IBN and NDTV.

I hope that we get to see some serious stuff.

Before I forget, who is all for crucifying Anisha Baig for the lousiest programme on NDTV called as “Night Out“? I d be the first one. She remains a serious embarrasment to watch. I could choke on my own puke than to watch her.
